Money Doesn’t Grow on Trees?

I had the opportunity last night to sit and talk with four great ladies who have adopted internationally or who, like us,  are in the process of doing so. It was so great to be able to ask the questions that others who have not taken on this massive experience would probably think are ridiculous.

Through these women, who are nearly perfect strangers, God really affirmed my desire to pursue this adoption. Further affirmation arrived in my inbox this morning.

I received notification that our application has been accepted and we are officially in the program to adopt from “somewhere” in Africa. Most of you know that, after finding out that we don’t qualify to adopt from Haiti, we began looking into the Ethiopia program. Just when we thought that would be the route we should take, we received an email from one of our good friends who told us about another program that we should look into.

After hours and hours and more hours of internet research and phone calls, it was clear that this program would be the perfect fit for us. I’ll share with you soon which country we’ve chosen…

In the meantime, my dear friends/prayer warriors, I truly covet your prayers.

Once we have filled out the mounds and mounds of paperwork and contracts that arrived with our acceptance letter, we are to return them to the agency with the first payment of $3,450.00. Brad and I have certainly been blessed to be able to live a comfortable life and provide that also for our daughters, but we absolutely do not have thousands of dollars growing on the money tree in the back yard.

What we do have, though is a tremendous circle of friends and family who we know will pray for God’s provisions in this adoption. Furthermore, we serve an awesome God who is endlessly faithful.

Psalm 36:5 “Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.”

I’ve never been good about asking for help but, under the circumstances, I feel that it is the right thing to do. Our family needs  your assistance – whether it be in offering prayer, donations or telling your friends and acquaintances about my awesome cleaning services!

Brad and I and the girls are organizing a fundraising garage sale at our home on Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th. If you’d like to donate items to our sale, please contact me at If you’d rather come out and shop, we’ll look forward to seeing you then!

I’m super excited to see how God chooses to help us get past this first financial hurdle. Are you?
