i-600a FedExed to the USCIS so we can get an i-171h…Or, something like that…

Have you FedExed anything lately? Twenty bucks to overnight some documents to Denver! Twenty! Crazy, yes?

But, I don’t mind. It was worth every penny. Today, we sent in the paperwork to the USCIS (Immigration and Citizenship)….finally.

It’s been a very looooong 4 months, 3 weeks and 1 day since we announced our intentions to adopt. Time creeps by when you’re anxiously awaiting something so awesome.

Kelly, our home study agency rep told me today to count on “about” two months until we receive the approval letter from the USCIS. In order to minimize any disappointment, we’ll count on “at least” four months. That way, we’ll be pleasantly surprised if it’s any less.

In the meantime, we’ll send in all of our dossier paperwork to be translated so that we can look forward to our referral. Brad and the girls and I are looking forward to the day we get to see the newest Costain’s little face. Perhaps I should rephrase. We’re looking forward to the day that we’ll see the newest Costains’ little faces. You read right – we’ve requested a sibling group!

God has been so very good to us through this process and we’re excited to learn more and more about what He has planned for us.

Stay tuned… 🙂

  1. Shellie,
We got our I171H in six weeks! We got a letter pretty quickly saying that they got our stuff, then the appointment request, the appointment, then the approval in six weeks! It goes by faster than you think it will. That is unless all you can think about is the wait- which is what I sometimes do!
    Can’t wait to read more!

    • Our appointment came in quickly too – we were so surprised! Thanks for making contact, Celina. Wouldn’t it be so fun if we travel around the same time?? Prayers to you and yours…
